TAITUNG, Taiwan --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- 2016 Vocal Asia Festival (VAF), one of the biggest music events in Asia to unite a cappella musicians and fans, will kick off on August 17 in the eastern Taiwan. The event will introduce a cappella music via workshops, forums, master classes and concerts that will run through August 20.
One of the highlights for the closing night will be the performance of an all-male, six-member group from Cuba called “Vocal Sampling” featuring rich a cappella adaptations of traditional Cuban salsa music, son cubano, and Rumba.
The four-day event will offer diverse performances and activities. Series highlights include Sound of Taitung Concert, featuring singers and bands from Taitung or other regions in Taiwan; Sound of Asia Concert, featuring selected groups with great potential from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore; Aca Day, the day that groups get to share music with local citizens and tourists as well as Gala Concert, featuring world-renowned master groups, such as “Vocal Sampling”, the champion group of 2016 VoiceJam(USA) and the champion group of 2016 Asian Cup A Cappella Competition.
In collaboration with local Kung-tung Technical Senior High School and Harvest 365 Foundation, the festival also hosts a cappella competition to encourage students to exchange and learn more about a cappella.
The VAF will be held in Taitung Art and Cultural Center, the Flowing Lake of Taitung Forest Park, Tiehua Music Village and Taitung Aboriginal Culture Hotel Square across Taitung.
