ACAPPUCCINO was formed in 2007, initially as a quintet to just sing and perform for leisure. The group mainly performs light pop-jazz and contemporary music.

Their tag phrase, just the few of us, is testament with their presentation of songs, voices to create sounds and harmonies in a song paired with their individual personalities. The general feel is friendly and warm – like how good music should be, but not boring. The idea of a vocal ensemble is one that is versatile, not restricted to any form of music.

The vocal group currently consists of Derrick Kam, Chan Yu Qin, Alvis Chioang, and Gerald Lee, with Elaine Lim as the latest addition in 2012.

In 2009, the group competed at the Singapore A Cappella Championships and attained top scores with a Silver trophy in the Pop Chamber Choir category.

Besides just singing, the group occasionally engages with other groups. Acappuccino co-produced and co-presented “FALLING IN LOVE…” with the Innova JC Choir in May 2008 at The Republic Cultural Centre Studio, and has guest-performed at the NYP Voice Ensemble’s annual concert, LES VOIX 09 in December 2009, LES VOIX 10 in March 2011.

Their first concert, just the few of us, was met with huge successes as they celebrated four years of singing together to an enthusiastic audience at the Esplanade Recital Studio. The group has just returned from a year long hiatus and will be working on a major project in 2013. Check out this space for more updates!
